On September 19th RC Warszawa Goethe and the German speaking school in Warsaw Willy-Brandt-Schule (WBS) organized for the second time a benefit run against Polio.
During one day all school classes and more than 300 of the 350 pupils have participated in the run – a testimony for their eagerness to help fighting the disease. The best runners have had the honor to represent their school in the Warsaw School Competition. The winning class will display the trophy – sponsored by RC Warszawa Goethe – for the whole school year.
In addition to the run their were practical presentations of waste segregation during breaks to motivate the children to help avoiding waste.
The goal of the school run was to support the fight against Polio. The participants have raised more the PLN18.000 in donations from their sponsors, of which nearly PLN 14.000 are given to Rotary Foundation to support our global efforts towards Polio eradication.
Including the support of the Bil and Melinda Gates foundation the event in Warsaw raised approximately PLN 41.500 for the fight against Polio.
